Taking your furry friend out for some fun at the park? Here are a few tips to get you equipped with what to expect, a fun and sociable environment that should ensure it doesn’t turn to chaos!
Basic training like hand gestures or voice signals should be introduced prior to deciding to take your dog to the park. This way it’s easy to control him and call him even when he is off the lead and playing with the others.
Observe the park and dogs as you arrive
As you arrive at the park, it’s important to observe the nature of dogs playing around. Are there aggressive dogs around? Also remember to choose a weekday; a lesser crowd avoids dogs getting rowdy. Also, keep an eye out for small children and avoid letting your dog off-lead if you spot any.
Keep a close eye
Keep an eye on your dog and how he socialises with the other dogs. Know the difference between playing and fighting, that way you know when to stop it.
Puppies are not allowed in dog parks as they may provoke some dogs to be aggressive. Wait until the pup is several months old and make sure he has completed his early vaccinations.

Make sure that your dog is up-to-date on his vaccinations and is free from parasites like fleas and ticks. A parasite-infested dog can easily pass these on whilst playing so its important to be mindful of this.
