Where to let your dog sleep is a decision that every dog owner makes individually. There is no hard and fast rule about where to let your dog sleep. As a dog owner, I let my pups sleep inside the house, and more often than not they sleep on the bed with me. Some people will disagree with me, but I love waking up to my pup curled up at the bottom of my bed.
Dogs have quickly transitioned from being our protectors to our companions and, in many cases members of the family. Many dog owners out there will do anything to make sure their pup is happy and healthy, spending thousands on vet bills and grooming. It is in this regard that many dog owners now let their pups sleep inside.
There are many benefits to letting your dog sleep inside the house. Children that grow up with a dog around them develop fewer allergies, and they have a companion they can grow up with and give all their love to. An indoor dog is always around in case you want some company or hugs at night, and they can alert us to anything out of the ordinary such as an intruder.
Having a dog inside can have its downsides too. Dogs that aren’t properly toilet trained can leave messes around the house that can be a nightmare for dog owners to clean up all the time. Dogs can also become a tripping hazard when you’re walking around the house at night. In my opinion, the benefits of having a dog live in the house with me far outweigh the problems they may cause. In any case, when you leave your dog with one of our minders, you should discuss with them what your dog is used to and see where they are comfortable for your dog to sleep.
