Aussie dog owners often encounter difficulty in bringing their dog along for an outing because of the limited café spots that cater to our canine friends. We know this is mainly due to strict government regulations around food hygiene but there are still a quite a few fun haunts where your fur-child is welcome too!
Here is a list of some of our fave’s in Sydney:
The London, 85 Underwood Road, Paddington 02 9331 3200 – This is Sydney’s oldest pubs where dogs are allowed to go everywhere except behind the bar. Check out Chur Burger on the 2nd floor – amazing!
Brown Sugar, 100 Brighton Boulevard, North Bondi 02 9365 6262 – Down in Bondi town, your little furry friend is welcome. Plenty of outside seating for you and your fur-BFF.
Jed’s Foodstore, 60a Warners Ave, Seven Ways, Bondi Beach, 02 9365 0022 – At Jed’s, they have outdoor tables, the best bet for your pet and the Jed’s team are all dog lovers.
Cafe Bones, Hawthorne Canal Reserve, Canal Rd, Leichhardt, 02 8505 4109 – Located in a Park and created specifically to cater for dogs and their owners, you can just grab a coffee and have your dog mingle with other dogs. If you don’t have one of your own this is still a great place to visit, get involved and see all the different breeds and their owners!
Elizabeth Bay Cafe, 3/45 Elizabeth Bay Road, Elizabeth Bay – Visit this place and have some sweet corn fritters with bacon & avo salsa with your little furry friend. Its on a bustling corner so make sure your pup is on-leash. They have tables outside as well & if you’re part of the prestigious ‘eBay residence club’, then you’ll know this place very well.
The Commons, 32 Burton Street, Darlinghurst 02 9358 1487 – At The Commons, they only allow dogs outside & dog owners should guide them at all times but it’s a superb spot for a causal breaky,.
The Norfolk, 305 Cleveland St, Surry Hills, 02 9699 3177 – Here you can grab a bloody mary and a pub feed while you get asked by the locals what kind of dog you have & how old he is. They are a friendly bunch here.
Organic Bread Bar, 356 South Dowling Street 02 9357 4448 – Here at Organic Bread Bar you can enjoy your caffeine hit and bring along your dogs since there is limited-pedestrian interference and plenty of shady pots for the little guy.
Cafe Gulia, 92 Abercrombie Street Chippendale +61 2 9698 4424 – At Café Gulia, everyone will look after you & your furry friend. They have great coffee, food and the service is awesome! The crowd is quirky and the staff are young.
4ate5, 485 Crown Street, Surry Hills 02 9698 6485 – This café is a ripper however it’s super busy. You don’t have to worry about the long wait, there are about four tables out front or just check out Organic Produce which is beside 4ate5 or Gnome Café which is across the road. These two are very pooch friendly as well.
Room 10, 10 Llankelly Place, Potts Point 0425 810 174 – A tiny hole in the wall but the food is outstanding and very well priced. Your furry little friend will thank you for all the table scraps & pets received whilst you enjoy one of the best cups in town. You can find a bunch of little tables outside perfect for your pooch.
