Ever wondered what makes your dog get up to certain annoying habits? Whilst they may be completely bazaar to us, they’re in fact typical doggy habits. Here we’ll explain some odd doggy behaviours.
Digging
Is backyard beginning to look like a minefield? Digging up the backyard is a common complaint of many dog owners. Dogs can dig for many reasons including boredom so they do this to entertain, because they hear or smell something in the ground crawling, or they just wanted to hide their ‘valuables’ such as bones or toys from their predators.
Howling
We can trace this back to the dog’s distant relation – the wolf. Howling is a form of communication that your dog is using to warn others he is encroaching his turf or it can can also be used to tell other dog’s his whereabouts. The length and tone of the howl is how we determine which of the two is being said!
Smelling each other’s backside
This is their way of getting to know another dog, just like humans meet someone by looking at their face and shaking hands, dogs do it by smelling another dog’s backside. This may sound exaggerated but keep in mind a dog’s sense of smell is 100,000 times more sensitive than that of a human’s.
