Choosing a breed is the first big decision you have to make. After finally deciding what breed, you now need to consider gender. Little do we know, female and male dogs are more than likely to possess different characteristics and traits.
Some say female dogs are easily trained because they are more focused, unlike male dogs that tend to play and goof around. Interestingly in competitive dog shows, it is well known that It’s more valuable to have a male competitor because they can be bred out continuously.
As for temperament, female dogs are more independent. They can be loving at times but generally prefer to be on their own in contrast to male dogs which tend to be more affectionate and demand more attention which also means that they are more focused on their human companions.
Made a decision yet? If you plan on growing a family and breeding, then start with a female but if you seek an active dog that will never let you down, choose a male. Also if you have thoughts about spaying and neutering, it will cost you more to have a female spayed than to get a male neutered.
