Regular exercise is an important part of any dog’s health and well-being. Not only is ‘walkies’ an exciting time for the dog but it makes them feel energised too! We’ve lined-up some simple ways to make this walking adventure with your dog a hassle-free experience when he is with his dog minder!
Doggie tools
Before drop-off at the pet sitter’s house, make sure you have checked the necessary gear that will be needed. Be sure to check if the leash is strong enough (especially when walking large dogs), dog tags are showing updated contact information and their collar is in tact. Most of our dog minders will also add a ‘visitor’ tag to your dog for the duration of the stay.
Observe his leash behaviour
Gather information on how the dog behaves when walked. Are they comfortable with other dogs? Are they friendly to people with dogs? Also learn if the dog reacts to animals such as cats and advise the minder of this.
Getting ready to go
Make sure that the leash is attached before you open the door! Some dogs are so anxious and will race to go outside, also bring a water bottle to quench you and your dog’s thirst during the walk. Our pet minders know never to take a dog boarding ‘canine guest’ off-leash as this may cause distractions and accidents could happen.
